General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR)
From May 2018, the collection, storage and use of personal data and special category data (previously called ‘sensitive’ data) is covered by GDPR instead of the Data Protection Act, where data is held electronically or where written files are stored in a company’s filing system. Although this does not apply to the great majority of the data kept by Orchard End Cattery, we have complied with these requirements under GDPR. This means that you need to understand what data is being stored and how it will be used.
Security
All personal data is held securely.
Our laptops all have an individual password.
Our office is locked during “out of office” hours or when not occupied.
How We Might Use The Information
The basic personal details contained on the Registration Form are stored for the purpose of:
Complying with our obligations under our contract with you.
Keeping you up to date with news.
Relevant information
Offers and events
To administer the website.
To improve your browsing experience by personalising the website.
Providing any employees with enquiries from you, detailing information you have provided over the phone, by email, by letter or by using our Registration form.
Sending statements and invoices to you, and collect payments from you.
Providing third parties with statistical information about our users.
Dealing with enquiries and complaints made by or about you relating to the website.
In exceptional circumstances, where veterinary intervention is considered appropriate, or the law requires, essential details may need to be shared with veterinary or statutory departments for the purpose of management or complying with the law. Specific consent for this will always be sought first, where it is possible and practical to do so.
The information collected on the Orchard End Cattery Registration Form will be securely destroyed 12 months after we have finished working together.
This is a lawful under GDPR and a separate consent is not required.
Data Requests:
Under the provisions of GDPR, you have the right to make reasonable requests in writing:
For your personal data to be erased or to no longer be processed.
For your personal data to be provided in an email or paper format for use in an alternative service.
For sight of the personal data being held on you. The data will be provided within one month. There is no cost for this. If you believe there is an inaccuracy in the records you can request that they are amended, or add a note of any objections to your records.
Disclosure:
We may disclose information about you to any of our employees, advisors, suppliers or subcontractors as is deemed reasonably necessary.
In addition, we may disclose your personal information:
To the extent that we are required to do so by law.
In connection with any legal proceedings or potential legal proceedings.
In order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights - including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk.
Liability Limitations:
Orchard End Cattery is not responsible for technical failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections or incomplete or delayed computer transmissions.
Orchard End Cattery will not be liable under any circumstances for any damages or injury (financial or otherwise) that may result from the use of the materials on our site.
Orchard End Cattery may provide links to other sites that are not maintained by Orchard End Cattery, but Orchard End Cattery cannot control those sites and is not responsible for the content of those sites.
